RIPTA Service to Run Holiday Schedule in Observance of Veterans Day, Monday, November 11, 2024

 

Free Bus Service for All Local Veterans on Veterans Day and to WaterFire – A Salute to Veterans on November 2

 

Providence, Rhode Island - The Rhode Island Public Transit Authority (RIPTA) will offer free service on Veterans Day, Monday, November 11, 2024, to all Rhode Island veterans with proof of eligibility. All passengers are reminded that RIPTA services will operate on a Sunday/Holiday schedule on Veterans Day.

 

RIPTA will also offer free service for veterans to WaterFire – A Salute to Veterans on Saturday, November 2, 2024.  On both dates, veterans must show a veteran’s identification card or a driver’s license with a “V” on it when boarding in order to ride at no charge.   

 

Flex Service

RIPTA Flex Routes will not operate on Veterans Day except for Flex Route 203 (URI/Narragansett/South Kingstown) which will operate from 10 am to 5 pm. The Flex Service reservation line (1-877-906-FLEX) will not be staffed on the holiday.  However, passengers can schedule their 203 Flex reservation using the Flex On Demand mobile app. Visit RIPTA.com/FlexOnDemand for more information.

 

RIde Paratransit Program

On Monday, November 11, the RIde Program will operate on a holiday schedule. The RIde program does not provide standing order trips (recurring service) on RIPTA holidays. If you need a ride on the holiday, please call the RIde reservation line (401-461-9760) before November 11 to schedule a trip. The RIde reservation line will not be staffed on Veterans Day. 

 

RIPTA Offices

RIPTA offices and the Kennedy Plaza Ticket Window will be closed on Monday, November 11 in observance of the holiday. The RIPTA Customer Service Kiosk in the Newport Transportation Center will be open on Monday, November 11 from 8am-12pm and 1pm-4pm.

Meanwhile, Christmas will be warm across the Midwest and South, with record daily high temps possible.        President Trump says he has worries that people who he says innocently met the late sex offender Jeffrey Epstein could have their reputations destroyed. Speaking about the release of files related to Epstein by the Justice Department, the President said Monday that he especially doesn't like the release of pictures of former President Bill Clinton with Epstein. However he added, that's what Democrats and a couple of "bad" Republicans have asked for.        The economy was much stronger than projected in the third quarter. New government numbers released Tuesday show the U.S. gross domestic product grew by four-point-three-percent between July and September. Analysts had expected a gain of three-point-two-percent.        President Trump says it was Louisiana Governor Jeff Landry's who came up with the idea for Landry to serve as special envoy to Greenland. In a news conference on Monday at Mar-A-Lago, Trump said the Republican governor called him with the suggestion. The president said Landry told him Greenland should become a United States territory for national security purposes, not for minerals.        The Powerball jackpot has rolled over again with no grand prize winner on Monday night. That puts it at a staggering one-point-seven billion dollars with the next drawing on Christmas Eve. There were a number of million-dollar winners on Monday, with those tickets sold in Florida, Georgia, Illinois, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Tennessee and Wisconsin.        There's three college football bowl games on tap today. The first game of the day will see Toledo take on Louisville in the Bush's Boca Raton Bowl. Then, Southern Miss and Western Kentucky will go to battle in the New Orleans Bowl. UNLV and Ohio will face off in the Scooter's Coffee Frisco Bowl to end the night.
