Providence man charged with shooting ghost gun into neighbor’s apartment

An indictment, information, or complaint is merely an allegation. A defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Attorney General Peter F. Neronha announced that a Providence man has been charged in Providence County Superior Court with firing a ghost gun through his bedroom floor and into a neighbor’s apartment on November 12, 2022.

On August 24, 2023, the Office of the Attorney General charged Damien Brousseau (age 19), by way of criminal information, with one count of possession of a ghost gun and one count of firing in a compact area.

As alleged in the criminal information, on November 12, 2023, Providence Police responded to a report of shots fired inside a residence on Smith Street. Upon arrival, two neighbors who lived on the second floor of the residence, described hearing a loud bang approximately three hours earlier, and brushed it off initially because they claimed the third-floor neighbor tended to be noisy. The tenants later found a bullet hole in the ceiling and the floor of a bedroom in their apartment, and at that time they contacted the police.

As further alleged, before investigators arrived on scene, patrol officers performed a protective sweep of the third floor and found a Polymer80 9mm ghost gun pistol in the defendant’s bedroom in plain view next to the bullet hole in his floor.

The defendant is scheduled for a pre-arraignment conference on November 9,  2023, in Providence County Superior Court.

Democratic leaders in Minnesota are announcing a lawsuit against the Department of Homeland Security. The lawsuit is over the surge of additional ICE agents to Minneapolis following the deadly shooting involving an ICE agent. The state's Attorney General Keith Ellison says the agents are untrained and are making illegal arrests, causing chaos, and targeting people based on the color of their skin. Protests in Minneapolis have been ongoing since the shooting in Minneapolis last week.        The Supreme Court will hear arguments tomorrow on cases involving transgender athlete bans in two states. The Democrat filed the federal civil lawsuit in the U. S. District Court in DC on Monday. Hegseth called the video "seditious" and said the Pentagon initiated retirement grade determination proceedings that would result in a lost of pay. Kelly argues Hegseth's actions violate numerous constitutional guarantees and have no basis in statute.        The Eastern U.S. is bracing for a mid-week snowstorm. Trump told NBC News Sunday he didn't know anything about it, but that Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell was not very good at the Fed, and he's not very good at building buildings. Powell said the potential indictment focuses on renovations to Federal Reserve office buildings and called it the latest attempt to influence the Fed and its interest-rate decisions.        The first trailer is out for Lee Cronin's "The Mummy" ahead of its April 17th release. The film is a reboot of the horror franchise and follows a journalist searching for his daughter, who disappeared in the desert. When she reappears eight years later, something isn't quite right with her. In 2024, Cronin said this film will be unlike any "Mummy" movie "you ever laid eyeballs on before."
