Agenda posted September 5, 2023

President Trump will look to energize voters in Virginia and New Jersey tonight. He will hold tele-rallies ahead of tomorrow's key elections. Voters in both states will head to the polls to elect new governors.        A storm system moving up the East Coast is set to bring areas of the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic rain to start the week. Impacts from the rain are expected to be minimal, but it could result in some travel delays around the I-95 corridor. The system will stay offshore as it brings rain from the Northeast down to North Carolina's Outer Banks.        Travelers in Houston are facing hours-long waits to get through security due to staffing issues caused by the government shutdown. Wait times for TSA checkpoints at George Bush Intercontinental Airport reached three-hours for the second-straight day Monday. The lines snaked around and out of terminals.        Stocks are closing mixed to start the new month on Wall Street. Tech stocks provided some lift to the market with Amazon shares up four percent after the company reached a 38-billion-dollar deal with OpenAI. At the closing bell, the Dow fell 226 points to 47-336. The S&P 500 rose 11 points to 68-52. The Nasdaq gained 110 points to 23-834.        Federal authorities are accusing criminal cartels of offering payments to shoot Border Patrol agents on the southern border. According to a letter obtained by NewsNation, federal authorities issued an internal memo saying the Border Patrol's Rio Grande Valley Sector received information about "a coordinated attack" in which cartels may be offering the ten-thousand-dollar payments "to individuals who engage in shooting at" agents. The communication explained that the threat is believed to have originated from northern Sonora, Mexico, and "agents should remain aware of the potential threat" as well as "maintain heightened vigilance of their surroundings while conducting operations."        "Sesame Street" will make its Netflix debut next week. The first four episodes of the long-running children's show will premiere November 10th on the streaming service. Sesame Street's move to Netflix came after HBO Max did not renew its deal with the show.
