Programs are held on Tuesdays from 12pm-1pm on Sept 10, 17 24 & Oct 1 and 8. Sign up for all 5 weeks or attend just the presentations that are of interest to you. Learn about what credit is, how to improve it, and how your financial health impacts your ability to apply for loans and credit cards as well as it's impact when renting or purchasing a home. SNAP benefits are set to expire for millions of low-income Americans this weekend if the government shutdown rolls on. Democrats say the Trump administration can use contingency funds to continue the benefits, but the USDA the move is not allowed by law. There is no vote scheduled for today in the Senate.        At least 30 people have died as a result of Hurricane Melissa, which is making its way towards Bermuda. The majority of the deaths came from floods in Haiti. Hurricane experts say Melissa is one of the strongest Atlantic hurricanes in recorded history. The storm will approach Bermuda later today and is packing winds of 105 miles-per-hour, making it a category two storm.        President Trump has ordered the Department of War to begin testing nuclear weapons "on an equal basis" with other nations. In the post on Truth Social, Trump specifically cited the nuclear programs of Russia and China. It comes as Russian President Vladimir Putin says they successfully tested a nuclear-powered drone called the Poseidon, and said there was "nothing like this in the world in terms of the speed and the depth of the movement."        A Virginia teacher shot by one of her students is taking the stand against the school's former assistant principal in a civil trial. Abby Zwerner is testifying to recount the shooting, saying she though she had died. The shooting took place in 2023 and former assistant principal Ebony Parker is accused of ignoring warning signs that the student may have had a gun.        President Trump and First Lady Melania Trump are welcoming trick or treaters at the White House South Lawn today. The event is open to those who have tickets, including families of military, law enforcement and foster children. Candy will be provided by the National Confectioners Association.        There's two games on the college football schedule tonight. Coastal Carolina will host Marshall at 7:30 p.m. eastern. Both teams are four-and-three on the season. Also at 7:30 p.m., UTSA will welcome in Tulane. Tulane is six-and-one on the year, while UTSA is three-and-four.
