Museum of Work & Culture Offers Children’s Baking Workshop with Wright’s Dairy Farm for Grandparents’ Day 

 

WOONSOCKET, R.I. – The Museum of Work & Culture, a division of the Rhode Island Historical Society, will offer its annual Children’s Baking Workshop with Wright’s Dairy Farm & Bakery on Saturday, September 7 at 11am, themed around Grandparents’ Day.

 

This year’s event will feature a mille-feuille (Napoleon) making demonstration and Q&A with the pastry chef from Wright's. Follow along with the chef to fill and assemble your pastry, then join museum educators in an interactive French language matching game, baking bingo, and a discovery map presentation highlighting baking traditions of Rhode Island's immigrant communities.

 

Each participant will receive a chef's hat, apron, recipe card, pre-printed activity materials, as well as all the ingredients necessary for participants to follow along with the mille-feuille assembly activity. 

 

Tickets are $25 for one child and one adult. Tickets are $18 for a second child. No more than 2 children per adult. Space is limited, and early registration is strongly encouraged. Tickets are available for purchase at rihs.simpletix.com. 

 

President Trump says the Australian prime minister is doing a "fantastic job." Trump welcomed Anthony Albanese [[ Al-Buh-Nee-Zee ]] to the White House to finalize a deal to acquire Australia's rare and critical minerals. The President added the U.S. has been a "long-time ally" of Australia, and the two will discuss joint security in the Indo-Pacific region.        The Senate will vote later on a measure that's aimed to end the government shutdown. There's been little signs of progress as Democratic lawmakers remain dug in on efforts to extend healthcare subsidies. Meanwhile, Republicans are demanding the government reopen before any negotiations take place.        A trial is underway for a former Illinois Sheriff's deputy facing first-degree murder charges in connection with last year's shooting death of Sonya Massey. Sean Grayson will stand trial in front of a jury. Massey had called authorities for assistance, fearing a prowler may have been outside her home. She was shot in her kitchen after refusing orders to put down a pot of boiling water.        Amazon says its cloud computing services are still having problems. This comes just hours after it had said the issue had been "fully mitigated." Some popular websites experienced technical issues earlier today, frustrating users around the globe.        Colombia is recalling its ambassador to the U.S. following President Trump warning the country to stop production of illegal drugs. In a post on Truth Social on Sunday, Trump called Colombian President Gustavo Petro "an illegal drug dealer" who "strongly encourages the massive production of drugs." Trump went on to say if Petro doesn't take immediate action to halt it, the U.S. will do it for him. He added, "and it won't be done nicely."        Week 7 of the NFL season wraps up with a Monday Night Football doubleheader. The Detroit Lions will host the Tampa Bay Buccaneers at 7 p.m. eastern. Later, the Seattle Seahawks will welcome in the Houston Texans at 10 p.m. eastern.
