Interim Report of the Providence County Grand Jury - Reported April 3, 2024

On April 3, 2024, the Providence County Grand Jury returned an indictment charging Ivan Rodriguez with one count of first-degree child molestation and one count of second-degree child molestation.

 

The alleged acts occurred in the City of Providence on diverse dates between July 16, 2020, and July 31, 2023. The Providence Police Department conducted the investigation.

 

The defendant is scheduled to be arraigned on April 24, 2024, in Providence County Superior Court.

 

 

Human rights activists say over 25-hundred people have been killed by Iranian authorities in the crackdown against the massive protests sweeping the country. President Trump is calling off meetings with Iranian officials as the deadly protests continue in the country. In a Truth Social post, Trump told Iranians "help is on its way" and to "keep protesting." The posts come as Iran is expected today to hang the first protester involved in the movement.        The Homeland Security presence in Minnesota is dwarfing the Twin Cities' largest police forces. A thousand new federal agents could soon be operating in Minnesota, which would be bigger than the ten largest metro police departments combined. The increased federal presence is happening a week after the deadly shooting of Renee Good by an ICE officer. Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey [[ fry ]] called the scale of the enforcement surge "wildly disproportionate."        NASA is preparing for its first ever medical evacuation from the International Space Station. The four members of Crew-11 are expected to undock from the ISS later today with splashdown set for Thursday morning off the coast of California.        Actor Timothy Busfield has turned himself in after authorities in New Mexico issued a warrant for his arrest earlier this month. Busfield was accused of sexually abusing two boys who were child actors on the show he directed at the time, "The Cleaning Lady." In a video obtained by TMZ, Busfield denied the allegations.        Preliminary numbers are showing a drop in Obamacare enrollment. According to the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, 22-point-eight million consumers signed up for 2026 individual market health insurance compared to the 23-point-six million consumers who enrolled around this time last year. Consumers have until January 15th to sign up for ACA Marketplace plans, but several states have announced deadline extensions.        Musician John Forté [[ For-Tay ]] is dead at the age of 50. Forté, famous for his collaborations with The Fugees, died at home in Massachusetts on Monday. The cause of death is unclear but no foul play is suspected.
