Interim Report of the Providence County Grand Jury - Reported April 3, 2024

 

An indictment, information, or complaint is merely an allegation. A defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.

On April 3, 2024, the Providence County Grand Jury returned an indictment charging Ivan Rodriguez with one count of first-degree child molestation and one count of second-degree child molestation.

 

The alleged acts occurred in the City of Providence on diverse dates between July 16, 2020, and July 31, 2023. The Providence Police Department conducted the investigation.

 

The defendant is scheduled to be arraigned on April 24, 2024, in Providence County Superior Court.

 

 

President Trump says U.S. automakers are doing great thanks to his global tariffs. Trump is in Michigan to address the Detroit Economic Club, but first stopped at a Ford plant in Dearborn, accompanied by the company's Executive Chair, William Clay Ford Jr. The President said ever since his tariffs were enacted, plants planned for Mexico or Canada are now being built in the U.S.        It appears the Supreme Court will uphold states transgender athlete bans. On Tuesday, the justices heard two cases -- one out of Idaho, the other from West Virginia -- challenging whether states can ban transgender girls from participating in girls' and women's sports. Several legal analysis conclude the 6-3 conservative majority seems poised to uphold the bans.        Former President Clinton is facing a possible contempt of Congress charge. He failed to show up for a GOP-led House committee hearing today in the Jeffrey Epstein investigation, and now, Congressman James Comer says they will move to hold the former President in contempt. Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton is scheduled to appear tomorrow, but in a joint statement, the Clintons said they will not appear.        It's day two what's believed to be the largest nurses strike in New York City history. Thousands of nurses walked off the job Monday morning from Mount Sinai, New York Presbyterian and Montefiore hospital systems. No new talks are scheduled with the nurse's union and hospital management said to be far apart on key issues including pay and benefits.        Mike Tomlin is stepping down as the coach of the Pittsburgh Steelers. That's according to multiple reports. Tomlin has coached the Steelers for 19 seasons. This comes after the team was blown out in the AFC Wild-Card round against the Houston Texans.        This year's Bottlerock music festival in California will feature a diverse lineup. Foo Fighters, Backstreet Boys and Lorde are among the headlners. Other acts on the bill include Teddy Swims, Lil Wayne, Ludacris and Kool and the Gang. The event will take place May 22nd through the 24th in Napa Valley.
