Interim Report of the Providence County Grand Jury - Reported April 3, 2024

 

An indictment, information, or complaint is merely an allegation. A defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.

On April 3, 2024, the Providence County Grand Jury returned an indictment charging Ivan Rodriguez with one count of first-degree child molestation and one count of second-degree child molestation.

 

The alleged acts occurred in the City of Providence on diverse dates between July 16, 2020, and July 31, 2023. The Providence Police Department conducted the investigation.

 

The defendant is scheduled to be arraigned on April 24, 2024, in Providence County Superior Court.

 

 

Some U.S. personnel are under evacuation orders from key Middle East bases as President Trump considers taking action against Iran. That's according to multiple reports citing U.S. officials. Trump has warned Iran the U.S. is looking at options for intervening in the crackdown of anti-government protests, and stands "ready to help."        The Supreme Court has still yet to rule on the legality of President Trump's global tariffs. The justices issued opinions today but didn't issue a ruling related to the tariffs and the next announcement day is currently not known. On Monday, Trump said "we're screwed" if the high court rules against the tariffs.        At least 25 states starting tonight are set to be impacted by a major winter storm. Intense snowfall is expected to be seen from the Lake Michigan shoreline in Michigan to the Illinois-Indiana border. Meanwhile, snow showers are in the forecast this week as far as south as North Carolina and Tennessee. Higher elevations may get up to a foot of snow, while lower elevations could see up to five inches.        Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey says that he does not support abolishing ICE, but did criticize leadership. Frey appeared on Fox News following continued tensions in his city after the shooting death of Renee Good by an ICE agent. He said while he does not support abolishing the agency, he is opposed to "the way this administration is conducting themselves."        Secretary of State Marco Rubio says the U.S. is sending humanitarian aid to Cuba. In a post on X, Rubio announced the shipment is aimed at helping the island nation recover from Hurricane Melissa. He said the administration is working with the Catholic Church to get the aid to the Cuban people directly, and not what he called the "illegitimate regime."        Actor Timothy Busfield is not entering a plea to charges of child sex abuse. This comes after Busfield was charged with two counts of criminal sexual contact with a minor and child abuse. The actor surrendered himself to Albuquerque authorities on January 13th days after an arrest warrant was issued for him.
