President Trump is backing Republican lawmakers during the government shutdown. During a Rose Garden luncheon for GOP Senators, Trump said "radical" Democrats are holding the government hostage. Trump singled out Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer. Democratic lawmakers remain dug in on efforts to extend healthcare subsidies, while Republicans are demanding the government reopen before any negotiations take place.     President Trump wants the Justice Department to provide him financial compensation for criminally investigating him. Trump says he's owed damages for two investigations: the alleged Russian interference in the 2016 Presidential election, and the FBI search of his Mar-A-Lago home related to the handling of classified documents. The New York Times says Trump is seeking 230-million-dollars as compensation. Trump would not confirm that number to reporters, but said whatever money he gets he'll give to charity.     The state of Arizona is suing the U.S. House of Representatives in an effort to force the swearing in of Representative-elect Adelita Grijalva [[ gree-HALL-vuh ]]. The Arizona Democrat won a special election to fill her late father's seat almost a month ago. Arizona Attorney General Kris Mayes said the case is about whether someone duly elected may be denied rightful office, and accuses House Speaker Mike Johnson of delaying an order to prevent a vote regarding the Epstein files.     An illegal immigrant and a federal marshal are both injured after an incident in South Los Angeles Tuesday. Officials say federal officers shot the immigrant while he was attempting to flee immigration agents. One of the bullets fired by the officers also struck a U.S. marshal. The LAPD confirms one person is in custody in connection with the shooting.     Millions of Americans are at risk of losing their SNAP food assistance as the government shutdown grinds on. The Acting Administrator of SNAP says the program won't have enough money by the end of the month if the shutdown continues. Over 42 million low-income Americans use SNAP. Some states, including Texas and Pennsylvania, have already warned they will not be distributing SNAP food assistance if the federal funds dry-up.     Week nine of college football is kicking off this evening. Kennesaw State is taking on Florida International at Pitbull Stadium. Meanwhile, Louisiana Tech is hosting Western Kentucky at Joe Aillet Stadium.
