Autumnfest Steering Committee Seeking 2023 Grand Marshal Nominations

 

Woonsocket – The selection process for the 2023 Autumnfest Grand Marshal has begun.  The planning process for the Grand Marshal’s Celebration have been enhanced and the honoree/honorees have more time to relish their prestigious award.

 

The criteria for the Autumnfest Grand Marshal apply to individual/individuals who have, without compensation, given of themselves above and beyond for the betterment of the community and in some way Autumnfest.  In short, their efforts and contribution must have come from the heart.   

 

Your suggestion is important!  Here is your chance to help the Autumnfest Steering Committee in their search for this year’s Autumnfest Grand Marshal.  Be prepared to tell the Autumfest Steering Committee some background of your nominee, what your nominee has done for Autumnfest, and what your nominee has done for the community.  Please hurry, application submission deadline for Autumnfest Grand Marshal is April 30, 2023.

 

The Grand Marshal’s selection form as well as a complete list of former Autumnfest Grand Marshals can be found on the Autumnfest Website (www.autumnfest.org).  Please review the list of former Grand Marshals so you do not nominate an individual/individuals who have already had this honor bestowed on them.  You can fill out the form and submit it online or download the form, fill it out and mail it to Autumnfest Grand Marshal, PO Box 574, Woonsocket, RI 02895.

Subzero conditions are bringing the chill to the eastern third of the country this week. Strong gusty winds will lead to dangerous wind chills, prompting extreme cold warnings and watches for the northern Plains and the Upper Midwest. More severe weather will be on the way as a major winter storm is expected to impact a huge area from Texas to the East Coast from Friday through the weekend.        President Trump says the framework of a long-term deal on Greenland is in place. Shortly after announcing the deal framework in a post on Truth Social, Trump told reporters the deal gives the U.S. everything it needs. He went on to call it an "infinite deal" that would last "forever." Trump has repeatedly said the U.S. needs to take control of Greenland for national security purposes.        The House committee looking into the Jeffrey Epstein investigation has started contempt proceedings against the Clintons. The GOP-led committee is chaired by Republican Congressman James Comer. Comer warned last week contempt of Congress charges against former President Clinton and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton are on the table after neither showed for their scheduled deposition.        Closing arguments are over in the first trial connected to the slow police response to the mass shooting at an elementary school in Uvalde, Texas. Former Uvalde school officer Adrian Gonzales is accused of failing to engage the gunman after arriving at Robb Elementary School during the massacre May 24th, 2022. Nineteen children and two teachers were killed.        Prince Harry took the stand in a London courtroom today and brought up his late-mother Diana in a privacy invasion trial involving the publisher of The Daily Mail. The British royal and other claimants like Elton John and Liz Hurley accuse the tabloid and its sister Sunday newspaper of breaking the law to gather information. Those methods were reported to include phone hacking and intruding into people's private lives.        The FCC is clearing up questioning about talk shows having political candidates as guests. The agency's equal time rule requires a station to provide equal airtime for candidates running for the same office. President Trump's FCC chairman, Brandon Carr, previously targeted "The View" and had questioned whether the show was exempt from the policy or not.
