The Senate is set to vote on a measure to reopen the federal government today. Over 40-million Americans who depend on food benefits may see their aid come to an end on Saturday if the appropriations bill isn't passed. Some Democrats are calling on the Trump administration to use contingency funds to continue the benefits, but the USDA says it doesn't have the legal authority to use the funds.        A one-year-deal with China on critical rare earth minerals and some tariffs has been reached. President Trump announced the deal after his meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping [[ she jeen-peeng ]] in South Korea. The deal would see fentanyl-linked tariffs on China lowered by ten percent, cutting tariffs on Chinese exports cut from 57 percent to 47 percent.        The search is still on for three lab monkeys that escaped from a wrecked transport truck in Mississippi. It happened Tuesday, along Interstate-59 just north of Heidelberg. Authorities say the vehicle was transporting 21 primates from Tulane University to a research facility in Florida when it overturned.        President Trump has ordered the Department of War to start testing nuclear weapons. In a Truth Social post, Trump said due to the testing programs of other countries, he's instructed the department to start testing U.S. weapons "on an equal basis." In the post he specifically cited the nuclear programs of Russia and China. The last time the U.S. tested a nuclear weapon was in 1992.        The nomination hearing for President Trump's pick for surgeon general is being delayed. A spokesperson for the Senate HELP committee said the hearing was postponed due to Casey Means going into labor ahead of her scheduled virtual appearance. The president nominated Means to the post in May and said she will work with HHS Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. "to ensure a successful implementation of our Agenda in order to reverse the Chronic Disease Epidemic."        Ghostface is back to make audiences scream. The first trailer for "Scream 7" is out now and it gives fans their first look at the return of Neve Campbell as Sidney Prescott. Campbell is returning to the franchise after sitting the last film out due to a salary dispute. The film will be the first to be directed by series creator Kevin Williamson and will also see the returns of original cast members David Arquette, Matthew Lillard and Scott Foley.
