Sayles Hill Road

 

 

Due to construction on RI 146, exiting Sayles Hill Road from 146 will be temporarily restricted, Monday thru Friday between the hours of 7:00 am to 9:00 am and 3:00 pm to 7:00 pm.

 

These restrictions will begin on Thursday, October 3rd, 2024. Restrictions are subject to change depending on construction and its impacts to public safety on Sayles Hill Road neighborhood.

Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem says federal immigration agents may ask people near enforcement actions to prove their U.S. citizenship. Noem told reporters that during targeted ICE operations -- such as those underway in Minneapolis -- agents might ask bystanders who they are and why they're there, including asking them to validate their identity and citizenship.        Venezuelan opposition leader Maria Corina Machado has gifted her 2025 Nobel Peace Prize to President Trump. The two met at the White House on Thursday, and afterward, Machado told reporters she presented the medal to Trump in appreciation for deposing Venezuela's former leader Nicolas Maduro. Trump later took to social media to thank her, calling the move "a wonderful gesture of mutual respect."        U.S. special envoy Steve Witkoff says the Trump administration would like to make a nuclear deal with Iran through diplomacy rather than force. Asked about Iran amidst ongoing tensions fanned by Tehran's violent crackdown on anti-government protesters, Witkoff said Iran may we willing to compromise and negotiate. He said an agreement would have to address nuclear enrichment, missile stockpiles, nuclear material and Iran's support for proxies against U.S. interests.        OpenAI is investing in CEO Sam Altman's Brain Computer Interface company. TechCrunch reports that OpenAI is the biggest investor in a 250-million dollar seed round. The company, Merge Labs, is competing with Elon Musk's Neuralink which also wants to merge computers with human brains.        A rare cold snap could bring falling iguanas to Florida this morning. Temperatures across the Southeast are plunging well below normal, with Miami dropping into the 40s and Orlando into the 30s, stunning cold-blooded iguanas and causing them to fall from trees. Wildlife officials say if you see frozen iguanas on the ground, leave them alone as they typically recover once the weather warms up.        The NBA is heading back to England. The Magic and Grizzlies will face off Sunday in London in the league's first game in the United Kingdom since 2019. This will be the second straight game in Europe for the teams.
