City Council Regular Meeting - Dec 04 2023

So far, no major delays are being reported for Thanksgiving holiday flyers. The TSA says today is the busiest of this holiday travel period, but so far, flights are largely back on-schedule across the U.S. following the government shutdown. A record 82 million Americans are projected to travel this Thanksgiving.        President Trump pardoned a pair of turkeys in a traditional ceremony today at the White House. The turkeys, named Gobble and Waddle, got their paperwork signed by the Trump today in the Rose Garden. Trump took a shot at former President Biden, saying the turkey pardons last year were determined to be invalid because they were signed by an auto-pen.        Russia is expected to reject the latest peace deal drafted by the U.S. and Ukraine. That's according the New York Post. It was reported earlier that Ukraine had agreed to a deal to end the war with Russia, with just minor details needing to be ironed out. The U.S.-led plan has undergone some key changes after Ukraine objected to parts that called for it to cede territory to Russia.        Forecasters say a polar vortex will bring colder temperatures to the Central and Northern U.S. for the Thanksgiving holiday. That includes northern parts of the Pacific Northwest, the Great Plains, parts of Texas, and the interior Mid-Atlantic. Travelers hitting the road for the holiday weekend are urged to keep an eye on weather conditions.        There's a full slate of college basketball today as Thanksgiving week tournaments are in full swing. Number 13 Iowa State will take on Creighton in the Players Era Festival in Las Vegas. Later in the same tournament, number two Houston will face off against number 16 Tennessee. In the Maui Invitational, number 22 NC State will play Boise State.        Elton John is hoping he'll eventually regain full vision with the help of science. In an interview with Variety, the Rock and Roll Hall of Famer said he lost vision in his right eye and his left eye's not so good after getting an eye infection last year. He says he's still able to perform and in the meantime just has to be patient. It was announced Tuesday that John will headline Brazil's Rock in Rio music festival next September.
