A need to repair a water main break on North Main Street will require that the water service be shut off tomorrow, Thursday, January 16th, from 9 am to approximately 1 pm on North Main Street, Parkview Drive and Edward Avenue area, Slatersville Plaza, Cumberland Farms and Marshfield Commons.

 

In addition, some homes and businesses on Main Street may experience reduced water pressure.

The entire East Wing of the White House is being demolished to make room for President Trump's new ballroom. Trump said Wednesday he was tearing down the entire East Wing to make space for his 90-thousand-square-foot ballroom. He downplayed the significance of tearing down the historic structure that held the first lady's office, calling it a "very small building" that "was never thought of as being much."        The U.S. has destroyed a second alleged drug-trafficking vessel in the Pacific Ocean. In a post on X Wednesday, Secretary of War Pete Hegseth announced three alleged narco-terrorists were killed in the eastern Pacific. This comes hours after Hegseth announced two people were killed in a strike on Tuesday.        President Trump says American cattle ranchers don't understand the effects of tariffs like he does. In a post on Truth Social, Trump said he loves cattle ranchers but the only reason they are doing so well is because he placed tariffs on cattle coming into the U.S. The President said if it wasn't for him, they would be doing just as they've done for the past twenty years.        NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell is onboard with Bad Bunny playing the Super Bowl halftime show. Speaking at the NFL owners meeting in New York, Goodell said the Puerto Rican artist is "one of the leading and most popular entertainers in the world" and that's what the league tries to achieve.        Tinder is announcing a first-of-its-kind facial verification feature that helps confirm users are real and match their profile photos. Match Group, which owns Tinder, says the policy will apply to all new users in the U.S. Research shows safety and privacy issues contributed to a recent seven-percent drop in paying users on Tinder.        Balloon releases are now illegal in North Carolina. The law went into effect this month banning the organization of or participation in balloon releases. The goal is to cut down on litter, as balloons are believed to be one of the deadliest types of debris for marine wildlife.
