Malick Santos (age 26)

Providence, RI

On January 17, 2025, the Providence County Grand Jury returned an indictment charging Malick Santos with one count of first-degree robbery, two counts of assault with a device similar in appearance to a firearm, one count of possession of a stolen firearm, two counts of possession of large capacity magazines, three counts of possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance, two counts of possession of a firearm while possessing with intent to deliver a controlled substance, and two counts of assault of a police officer.

The alleged acts occurred in the City of Providence on June 2, 2024, and June 13, 2024. The Providence Police Department conducted the investigation.

The defendant is scheduled to be arraigned on January 22, 2025, in Providence County Superior Court.

 

Julien Santiago (age 20)

Providence, RI

On January 17, 2025, the Providence County Grand Jury returned an indictment charging Julien Santiago with one count of first-degree murder, one count of conspiracy, one count of discharging a firearm when committing a crime of violence resulting in death, and one count of carrying a firearm without a license.

The alleged acts occurred in the City of Providence on August 25, 2024. The Providence Police Department conducted the investigation.

The defendant is scheduled to be arraigned on January 29, 2025, in Providence County Superior Court.

The alleged acts occurred in the City of Providence on November 24, 2023. The Providence Police Department conducted the investigation.

Kevin Gallagher (age 40)

Coventry, RI

On January 17, 2025, the Providence County Grand Jury returned an indictment charging Kevin Gallagher with one count of driving under the influence resulting in death and one count of reckless driving resulting in death.

The alleged acts occurred in the City of Providence on May 30, 2024. The Providence Police Department conducted the investigation.

The defendant is scheduled to be arraigned on January 28, 2025, in Providence County Superior Court.

 

Donovan Rivera Medina (age 30)

Woonsocket, RI

On January 17, 2025, the Providence County Grand Jury returned an indictment charging Donovan Rivera Medina with one count of possession of more than 1 kg of cocaine and one count of possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance.

The alleged acts occurred in the City of Woonsocket on October 17, 2024. The Rhode Island State Police conducted the investigation.

The defendant is scheduled to be arraigned on February 5, 2025, in Providence County Superior Court.

House Speaker Mike Johnson says the government shutdown could be one of the longest in history. The Senate is expected to vote again today on a measure to fund the government. It's already failed seven times.        President Trump returns to Washington after signing a Middle East peace agreement during a summit in Egypt Monday. Trump departed Egypt aboard Air Force One after signing the Gaza ceasefire and addressing leaders from around the world. The 20-point agreement has already produced significant breakthroughs, with Hamas releasing all living Israeli hostages, and Israel starting the process of releasing Palestinian prisoners.        New York Attorney General Letitia James is backing New York City Democratic mayoral nominee Zohran Mamdani. James made her first public appearance Monday night since being indicted by the Department of Justice under President Trump, taking the stage at a rally in support of Mamdani.While James did not directly mention Trump or the indictment, she alluded to it with a remark of "I fear no man."        Week Six of the NFL season ended with a Monday night doubleheader. The Falcons shocked the Bills 24-14 in Atlanta to open the night. The Bears wrapped up the week by walking off with a 25-24 win over the Commanders.        SpaceX is reporting another successful test flight of Starship. The eleventh flight of the mega-rocket ended with the spacecraft splashing down in the Indian Ocean.        AMC Theaters will be showing two Diane Keaton movies in tribute to the late actress. Her Oscar-winning performance in "Annie Hall" and 2003's "Something's Gotta Give" are set to return to a hundred screens. Keaton died this past Saturday at the age of 79.
