‘Tis the Season to talk about Trash Collections, Delays and Trees!


Just a friendly reminder that there WILL BE NORMAL trash collection on both Christmas EVE and New Years EVE. Please be sure to put out your carts by no later than 6am every morning but especially on these days.

There will be a One-Day delay for Christmas Day and New Years Day!
If the warmer weather has you cleaning up your yard of late fallen leaves or you missed the last curbside pickup back in November, there is a special YARD WASTE ONLY dumpster located at the Recycle Facility at 943 River Street, available to all city residents until January 18th or the first major snowfall, whichever comes first.

Christmas Tree Collection will start January 2nd – January 15th on your trash day. Please be sure to have no lights or ornaments on your trees and to not block any walkways. Real trees may also be brought to the recycling facility until the 18th. Artificial Trees with the metal cores may be brought to the recycling facility and placed for special metal recycling any time of year.

The ICE agent involved in the fatal shooting of Renee Good in Minneapolis last week will not face a federal criminal civil rights investigation. Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche made the announcement Tuesday, leaving the investigation solely in the hands of the FBI. The 37-year-old was shot in her vehicle in what federal officials argue was justified self-defense, sparking protests around the country.        The Clintons face a Contempt of Congress vote next week connected to the Jeffrey Epstein investigation. That's according to Republican Congressman James Comer who heads the GOP-led House committee looking into the Epstein investigation. Former President Clinton and Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton didn't show for their scheduled depositions this week, accusing Republicans of selective prosecution.        President Trump's looming decision about military strikes against Iran is prompting the evacuation of U.S. personnel from key Middle East bases. That's according to multiple reports citing U.S. officials. Trump has warned Iran the U.S. is looking at options for intervening in the deadly crackdown of anti-government protests. Human rights activists say over 25-hundred people have been killed by Iranian authorities in the crackdown against the massive protests sweeping the country.        Millions of people in at least 25 states are bracing for a major snowstorm starting tonight. Intense snowfall is expected to be seen from the Lake Michigan shoreline in Michigan to the Illinois-Indiana border. Meanwhile, snow showers are in the forecast this week as far as south as North Carolina and Tennessee.        The legality of President Trump's global tariffs awaits a decision by the Supreme Court. The justices issued opinions today but didn't issue a ruling related to the tariffs and the next announcement day is currently not known. On Monday, Trump said "we're screwed" if the high court rules against the tariffs. The court's decision could have massive implications for American consumers and businesses, the economy and presidential authority.        There's a vinyl revival going on in the U.S. Entertainment data tracker Luminate reports vinyl album sales jumped for the 19th consecutive year in 2025. Vinyl sales grew by eight-point-six-percent while digital album sales fell by nearly 16-percent. Taylor Swift led the way with "The Life of a Showgirl" selling one-point-six-million copies on vinyl.
