The White House is paying tribute to late conservative activist Charlie Kirk today. President Trump will host what he described as "a big celebration" honoring Kirk's life in the East Room. Erika Kirk will appear at the ceremony as Trump awards the Presidential Medal of Freedom to her late hsuband.        The U.S. has struck another drug boat near Venezuela. In a Truth Social post, President Trump says said the strike happened this morning and killed six people on board. He added that the boat was trafficking narcotics and was associated with illicit narcoterrorist networks. This marks the fifth time the U.S. has conducted a strike on an alleged drug boat in the Caribbean.        President Trump warns the U.S. will get involved if Hamas does not disarm. Trump told reporters that if the militant group does not disarm, in his words, "We will disarm them." He would not offer any more details when pressed.        The Senate is nearing another vote on a measure that would end the federal government shutdown. The GOP legislation has already gained approval in the House. However, it's expected to fail as both Democrats and Republicans remain at odds over funding for health care.        Criminal charges against former Trump national security adviser John Bolton are expected soon. Bolton's Maryland home and DC office were searched by FBI agents in August, reportedly over the possible mishandling of classified documents. Prosecutors from the Maryland U.S. Attorney's Office had previously objected to indicting Bolton, but several reports say they have since dropped those objections. Bolton became a vocal critic of President Trump after he left the administration in 2019.        There's three games on the schedule as college football week eight kicks off tonight. New Mexico State will take on Liberty at 7 p.m. in a Conference USA matchup. In a Sun Belt contest, South Alabama will host Arkansas State at 7:30 p.m. Lastly, Florida International will face off against Western Kentucky at 8 p.m. eastern.
