We are so excited to announce that Rhode Island Spirits opens in their new location (near The Guild) this weekend! Make sure you stop in to see their new home. They’ll be open this weekend on Friday, March 24 from 4 to 8:30 pm; Saturday, March 25 from 1 to 8:30 pm; and Sunday, March 26 from 1 to 6 pm. Congratulations Cathy and Kara!

Cow’s Tail Deli and Creamery is open 6 days a week (closed Sundays). Stop in for some ice cream and try some of their seasonal flavors – Apple Crisp, Blueberry Pie and German Chocolate Cake. But before dessert, try one of their deli specials:  Monday: Grilled Cheese with tomato and basil and a bowl of soup ($7.95); Wednesday – Haddock Fish & Chips, Fried Scallops or Fried Shrimp served with fries and cole slaw for $8.95. Thursday – Double Barrel Wiener Grinder with fries for $12.95. They are a full seafood menu every day.

Friday, May 12 – Opening Day of the outdoor Pawtucket Summertime Farmer’s Market. This year the market will be held on Friday nights from May 12 through October 27 (4:30 until 7:30 pm) and will be located in The Guild’s Pawtucket Beer Garden (just a few minutes’ walk from the new Pawtucket-Central Falls Transit Center).  While you shop at the Market, you can also enjoy a beverage from The Guild, have a food truck dinner and enjoy live music! And remember – Rhode Island Spirits is just down the street!

 

Sunday, May 14 – Mother’s Day Garden Tea and Luncheon at Mapleville Farm. Seatings at 11 am and 2 pm – soup, salad, sandwiches, pastries, desserts and fine teas. $50/adult, $15/10 and under. Tickets available HERE.

The federal government remains shut down today. The Senate will meet this afternoon to try for an eleventh time to end the shutdown, which started October 1st. Unless something changes soon, food aid programs like SNAP and WIC are expected to start running out of money by the end of the month.        Millions of Americans took part in Saturday's "No Kings" protests across the U.S. Huge crowds took to the streets for marches and rallies in many cities. Some carried signs against ICE raids, troops being deployed in U.S. cities, government layoffs and the state of the economy. President Trump called the weekend's demonstrations a "joke."        Some popular websites have been experiencing technical issues, frustrating users around the globe. Those issues started overnight with Amazon Web Services - the cloud computing company that provides the online infrastructure for scores of sites and services. According to Downdetector, users of Zoom, WhatsApp, Snapchat, Amazon Prime, Hulu, Alexa, Roblox, Venmo and many more were all hit with tech problems.        Former New York Republican Congressman George Santos wants to reform the prison system after spending just over 80 days behind bars. Santos, who was sentenced to seven years for wire fraud and identity theft, had his sentence commuted last week by President Trump. Now, after his stint behind bars in New Jersey, Santos says prison is dehumanizing and humbling and he tells the Washington Post he wants to dedicate his entire life to prison reform.        French police are investigating a brazen multi-million dollar jewel heist at the Louvre Museum. Thieves broke into the museum Sunday morning, shortly before it opened to the public. They're thought to have gained entry through an upstairs window using some type of mechanical lift before making off with France's crown jewels.        MLB superstar Shohei Ohtani's third home run ball from Friday night's historic performance could be worth millions of dollars. SCP Auctions says the ball, hit into the left field pavilion and caught by a professional boxing coach, could be worth three, four or even more than five-million dollars. Ohtani hit it for his third home run of the night, in a game where he also struck out ten batters, leading the Dodgers to a sweep and the National League pennant.
