On March 13, 2023, the Statewide Grand Jury returned an indictment charging Joshua Gomez with a total of six counts: two counts of first-degree child molestation, two counts of second-degree child molestation, one count of assault with intent to commit first-degree child molestation, and one count of failure to notify change of address by sex offender.
The alleged acts occurred in both Johnston and Providence on various dates between March 1, 2021, and November 20, 2022. The investigation was jointly conducted by the Rhode Island State Police, the Providence Police Department, and the Johnston Police Department.
The defendant is scheduled to be arraigned on March 29, 2023 in Providence County Superior Court.
Some Senate Republicans say they think a deal to end the government shutdown may be close. The shutdown has been going on for 37 days and is the longest in history. Senate Majority Leader John Thune said yesterday that a mini-funding package that could get bipartisan support is nearing completion. He met with Democratic negotiators Tuesday night in an effort to find a solution.
