Powdered Infant Formula Recalled

 

The Rhode Island Department of Health (RIDOH) is advising consumers that Perrigo Company is issuing a recall of certain lots of Gerber Good Start SootheProTM Powdered Infant Formula that were manufactured at the company’s Gateway Eau Claire, Wisconsin facility from January 02, 2023 to January 18, 2023. This product is being recalled due to the potential presence of Cronobacter sakazakii.

 

Cronobacter sakazakii is a bacteria commonly found in the environment. In most people it causes no symptoms but in some, particularly premature infants, infants under 2 months of age, or infants with weakened immune systems fever, poor feeding, excessive crying, or low energy as well as other serious symptoms can occur.

 

This product is sold at retailers across the U.S. Consumers who purchased the product after March 5, 2023 should look for the following Lot Codes and “use by” dates, which can be found on the bottom of the package. No other lot codes are impacted by this recall. Any consumers who purchased product with matching codes should discontinue use and dispose of the product.

No distributed product has tested positive for the presence of this bacteria, no adverse events have been reported and no other products manufactured at this facility or any other of Perrigo’s facilities are affected by this recall.

The storms will continue to make their way across the midwest. Areas in Minnesota to Arkansas are expected to be hit by the powerful storms.        A Supreme Court case could squash felony charges against January 6th rioters and Former President Trump. The justices are hearing an appeal today brought by a former police officer who is seeking to dismiss a charge accusing him trying to overturn the 2020 election. The officer argues the obstruction law only applies to document shredding.        Iowa has enacted law making illegal immigration a state crime. The bill signed into law by Republican Governor Kim Reynolds allows state officers to arrest migrants who have previously faced deportation. Reynolds claims the Biden administration has failed to address drug trafficking and human smuggling at the border.        A second House Republican says he'll support an effort to oust Speaker Mike Johnson from power. Kentucky Republican Thomas Massie called on Johnson to resign and announced he's co-sponsoring a resolution offered by Georgia Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene to remove Johnson as Speaker. Johnson told reporters today he will not step down and said the effort is not helpful to the country.        The NBA Play-In Tournament is set to begin tonight. In the Western Conference, LeBron James and the Los Angeles Lakers will visit Zion Williamson and the New Orleans Pelicans in a matchup to decide the seventh seed. Elsewhere, Stephen Curry and the Golden State Warriors look to keep their season alive against De'Aaron Fox and the Sacramento Kings.
