On October 28, 2022, the Providence County Grand Jury returned an indictment charging Galo Tapia with one count of first-degree robbery, one count of conspiracy to commit robbery, one count of carrying a firearm while committing a crime of violence, one count of discharge of a firearm while committing a crime of violence, one count of carrying a pistol without a license, two counts of possession of a firearm after a previous conviction of a crime of violence, one count of assault with a dangerous weapon, one count of firing in a compact area, one count of possession of more than one ounce of marijuana, one count of possession with intent to distribute marijuana, one count of possession of a firearm while possessing with intent to distribute a controlled substance, and one count of conspiracy to receive stolen goods.

 

The alleged acts occurred in the city of Providence on diverse dates between July 5, 2022, and August 7, 2022. The Providence Police Department conducted the investigation.

 

The defendant is scheduled to be arraigned on December 12, 2022, in the Providence County Superior Court.

 

 

Christopher Arias (age 34)

On October 28, 2022, the Providence County Grand Jury returned an indictment charging Christopher Arias with one count of conspiracy to commit robbery, one count of possession of one ounce to one kilogram of fentanyl, one count of possession with intent to deliver fentanyl, one count of receiving stolen goods over $1,500, and one count of conspiracy to receive stolen goods.

The alleged acts occurred in the city of Providence on diverse dates between July 5, 2022, and August 7, 2022. The Providence Police Department conducted the investigation.

 

The defendant is scheduled to be arraigned on December 12, 2022, in the Providence County Superior Court.

On October 28, 2022, the Providence County Grand Jury returned an indictment charging Carlos Reyes with one count of possession of more than one kilogram of cocaine and one count of possession with intent to deliver cocaine.

 

The alleged acts occurred in the city of Providence sometime on June 8, 2022. The Providence Police Department conducted the investigation.

 

The defendant is scheduled to be arraigned on November 16, 2022, in the Providence County Superior Court.

 

 

Eury Soto (age 31)

On October 28, 2022, the Providence County Grand Jury returned an indictment charging Eury Soto with one count of possession of more than 1 kilogram of a mixture or substance containing fentanyl, one count of possession with intent to distribute fentanyl, one count of possession of one ounce to one kilogram of a mixture or substance containing heroin, one count of possession with intent to distribute heroin, one count of possession of one ounce to one kilogram of a mixture or substance containing para-flourofentanyl, one count of possession with intent to distribute para-flourofentanyl, and one count of possession with intent to deliver xylazine and tramadol.

 

The alleged acts occurred in the city of Providence sometime on September 8, 2022. The Providence Police Department conducted the investigation.

 

The defendant is scheduled to be arraigned on November 16, 2022, in the Providence County Superior Court.

 

 

Cezar Nehme (age 41)

Lincoln, RI

On October 28, 2022, the Providence County Grand Jury returned an indictment charging Cezar Nehme with two counts of first-degree sexual assault and two counts of second-degree sexual assault.

 

The alleged acts occurred in the town of Lincoln sometime between September 1, 2021, and May 21, 2022. The Lincoln Police Department conducted the investigation.

 

The defendant is scheduled to be arraigned on November 16, 2022, in the Providence County Superior Court.

 

 

The Biden administration says it's up to state governors to decide if the National Guard is needed to disperse anti-Israel protests on college campuses. House Speaker Mike Johnson called on President Biden to bring in the National Guard after seeing the protests at Columbia University this week.        The U.S. Supreme Court is considering arguments about presidential immunity. The case before the high court on Thursday centered around Donald Trump's claims of immunity in his federal election interference case. The justices are expected to rule in June.        Drivers can expect lots of gridlock in New York City today with President Biden in town. Biden will be in Manhattan today as he campaigns around New York. Meantime, former President Trump is teasing a possible rally at Madison Square Garden.        Harvey Weinstein's 2020 rape conviction is being overturned. The New York Court of Appeals says it tossed the conviction because of issues with testimony allowed at trial. Actress Ashley Judd, who accused Weinstein of sexual harassment, vowed, however, that the fight would continue.        Tornado sightings are being reported this morning in parts of eastern Oklahoma. Local forecasters say conditions capable of producing tornadoes were reported this morning between Tulsa and Oklahoma City. Tornado-producing weather is expected today from northeast Texas to southern Iowa.        "The Onion" has been sold. G-O Media announced on Thursday that the satirical news outlet has been purchased by a new firm called Global Tetrahedron, who got their name from The Onion. The CEO of G-O Media says the new firm has agreed to keep the entire staff intact in Chicago, where the publication has been based since 2012.
