St. James Church, 33 Division Street in Manville, RI, is holding a Lenten Fish Fry on Friday, March 15th 2019  in the Fr. Brindamour Church Hall from 5:00-7:30PM. Fish and Chips will be served with bread, rolls, coleslaw, tartar sauce, dessert and beverages. The cost is $8.00 for adults and $6.00 for children 10 years old and younger.  Tickets are available at the door. “Take-out” is also available.  All proceeds will benefit the Parish’s Social Ministry programs. There was no shortage of pomp and circumstance as President Trump arrived in India overnight on his first official visit to the country as president. Upon their arrival, the president and first lady were joined by Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi on a brief tour of one of the late Mahatma Gandhi's residences. From there it was on to the world's largest cricket stadium for a massive rally, dubbed "Namaste Trump."        Former Vice President Joe Biden has an idea why he's losing support from African-Americans in South Carolina. He mentioned billionaire businessman Tom Steyer and the amount of money he's spent there. A new CBS News/YouGov battleground tracker poll found Biden is now the first choice of 35-percent of African-Americans in South Carolina followed by Steyer who is at 24-percent.       Federal health officials aren't going through with a plan to transfer quarantined coronavirus patients to Alabama. The plan was scrapped Sunday after residents and local officials in Calhoun County raised objections. The federal government was planning to move patients from the Diamond Princess cruise ship that's docked off the coast of Japan to a FEMA facility in Anniston.        A Democratic senator is defending his recent meeting with Iran's foreign minister. On CNN's State of the Union, Chris Murphy of Connecticut said he told the U.S. State Department about the meeting before it happened. Murphy added that it's "dangerous" for the Trump Administration to not be talking with Iran.        New details are being released about the injury suffered by NASCAR driver Ryan Newman. His car crashed in the last lap of the Daytona 500, causing him to be taken to the hospital in serious condition. Newman released a statement yesterday saying he had suffered a head injury, but did not have any organ damage or broken bones in the crash.        Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer says he's guilty as charged of spending thousands on cheesecake. According to FEC filings between 2009 and 2016, the New York senator forked over 86-hundred dollars at Junior's Cheesecake in New York. The Democrat says he gave some of them as gifts and used them for friendly wagers.
