        THE BLUES BROTHERS & EMILY LUTHER TO HEADLINE AUTUMNFEST ENTERTAINMENT

 

Woonsocket - Dan Aykroyd, Judith Belushi and Musical Director Paul Shaffer Present The Official Blues Brothers™ Revue as the Headline Act at Autumnfest on Saturday October 6, 2018 at 7:30 PM.  Plus, Woonsocket’s own,Emily Luther will Headline on Sunday October 7, 2018 at 7:00 PM.

 

The duo, comprised of Kieron (Elwood Blues) Lafferty and Wayne (Jake Blues) Catania, were hand-picked by Dan Aykroyd, Judith Belushi and original Blues Brothers Musical Director, Paul Shaffer.  Backed by the all star Intercontinental Rhythm & Blues Band, The Official Blues Brothers Revue is an interactive experience showcasing their undeniable talent in songs that comprise a virtual encyclopedia of rock, blues and soul. Audiences of all ages have been on their feet as the duo delivers classics such as “Soul Man,”, “Gimme Some Lovin,” , “Sweet Home Chicago” and “Shout.”

Woonsocket born and raised, Luther started a career in music at the age of nine. After high school, she attended the prestigious Berklee College of Music majoring in Vocal Performance & Music Therapy. Her career then blossomed as a professional singer, model and actress.  Talk show mogul Ellen Degeneres invited Luther to perform on her syndicated TV show. After a surprise signing to her record label, eleveneleven, Luther also signed a publishing deal with Universal Music Publishing Group.  Next, Luther auditioned for the NBC hit, "The Voice." After a soulful performance of the classic, "Summertime," Luther managed to get a three chair turn and began her journey with Team Adam Levine.  Her success on the show has given Luther to opportunity to continue sharing her unique sound and has created an enthusiastic buzz world-wide as an artist moving her way down a "classic, sophisticated, yet fresh sound."

Senate lawmakers are set to vote later on a Republican backed measure that would reopen the federal government. It comes as there's been little sign of progress toward funding the government with both sides of the aisle seemingly dug in. House Democrats are also meeting today to discuss how to move forward.        Egypt, Qatar, Turkey and the United States say they are focused on lasting peace between Israel and the Palestinians. The statement was released Monday after the leaders adopted a ceasefire deal in Gaza between Israel and Hamas. It notes that Palestinians and Israelis should have equal rights.        The White House is set to host a celebration of Charlie Kirk's life later this afternoon. President Trump said he'll be posthumously awarding Kirk the Presidential Medal of Freedom. The 31-year-old conservative activist was shot and killed while speaking at a rally in Utah in September.        A man in Pennsylvania is being sentenced to decades behind bars after carrying out an arson attack at Governor Josh Shaprio's home. Cody Balmer pleaded guilty to aggravated arson, attempted murder and other charges related to the incident that happened on April 13th. Under a plea deal, Balmer was given a sentence of 25 to 50 years in prison.        Fed Chair Jerome Powell is set to give remarks today to the National Association for Business Economics in Philadelphia. He'll be addressing the business forum as key economic reports are being delayed due to the ongoing government shutdown. Powell is expected to provide some guidance as to future monetary policy.        Week Six of the NFL season wrapped up with a Monday night doubleheader. The Falcons shocked the Bills 24-14 in Atlanta to open the night. The Bears wrapped up the week by walking off with a 25-24 win over the Commanders.
