Amo Continues Blue Economy Tour with Rhode Island’s Leading Manufacturers

Blue Economy tour of Rhode Island’s First Congressional District continues by highlighting workers and small businesses in Newport County and the East Bay

 

Providence, RI – Tomorrow, October 22, 2024 at 11:30 AM Congressman Gabe Amo (RI-01) will continue his Blue Economy tour of Rhode Island’s First Congressional District with stops at Blue Economy manufacturing companies in Newport County and the East Bay. Congressman Amo will first visit VATN Systems to participate in a demonstration of one of their autonomous underwater vehicles. Then, Congressman Amo will be joined by Rhode Island Commerce Secretary Liz Tanner to visit Flux Marine and engage with their electric boat manufacturing and development. The stop at Flux Marine will conclude with a ride in a boat powered by an all-electric outboard motor.

President Trump is heading back to Washington, DC after signing the Middle East peace plan. Trump departed Egypt aboard Air Force One after signing the Gaza ceasefire and addressing leaders from around the world. The 20-point plan has so far led to a Gaza ceasefire, with Hamas releasing all of its living Israeli hostages, and Israel starting to release its Palestinian prisoners.        House Speaker Mike Johnson is warning the current government shutdown could be one of the longest in history. At a Monday news conference, the Republican said if Democrats keep up "their obstruction," then "that's where we're going to be headed." The shutdown began October 1st and looks headed for its third week.        Parts of the East Coast are being slammed by heavy rain and flooding from a Nor'easter. In New York City, the powerful storm forced the cancellation of the iconic Columbus Day Parade. Forecasters say rain and strong winds will continue to cause havoc around the city and the surrounding areas today.        Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy will travel to Washington for a meeting with President Trump on Friday. That's according to multiple reports citing Trump administration and Ukrainian officials. The White House meeting comes as Trump has been considering providing Tomahawk missiles to Ukraine as the war with Russia continues.        The investigation is ongoing into the cause of last week's deadly explosion in Tennessee. Sixteen people were killed when the blast ripped through the Accurate Energetic Systems plant in Hickman County. The facility manufactured military explosives.        Apple is dropping the "plus" as in a rebranding of its streaming service. It will now be known simply as Apply TV. The tech giant revealed the change Monday when announcing the streaming premiere for the Brad Pitt blockbuster, "F1: The Movie." Apple said the new name is a "vibrant new identity" for the streaming service.
