Presidential Preference Primary Results

& Elections Integrity Seminar

Registered voters in the city of Woonsocket cast their ballots at 6 polling locations for the Presidential Preference Primary on Tuesday, April 2nd. As of 8:00PM on election night, a total of 803 voters turned out to vote in-person Election Day, another 225 voted by mail and 64 voted early in-person at City Hall. The unofficial results can be found on the RI Board of Elections website at www.elections.ri.gov. Results can be viewed statewide, or results can be viewed by city/town.

The Woonsocket Board of Canvassers would also like to take this opportunity to notify the public that the Republican and Democratic City Committees will be hosting Secretary of State Gregg Amore and the RI Department of State Elections Division for an Elections Integrity Forum open and free to the public later this month. Woonsocket Republican and Democratic City Committees welcome Sec. of State Gregg Amore for Election Integrity Forum

The Woonsocket Board of Canvassers would like to welcome Rhode Islanders to an Elections Integrity Forum hosted by the Woonsocket Republican and Democratic City Committees in conjunction with RI Department of State Elections Division. This event will be held on April 20th, 2024 from 9:30am to 11:30am at the Woonsocket Education Center located at 115 Main St, Woonsocket.

Attendees will hear from Rhode Island’s chief election official Secretary of State Gregg Amore and his report on the state of elections administration in RI. After a brief presentation, attendees will have the opportunity to ask questions and hear from state and local election administrators who can share their knowledge of the procedures that dictate how elections are conducted across the state.

This event will be an excellent opportunity for election administrators to better understand their constituents concerns and questions, as well as giving attendees a chance to hear the facts of election administration right from the source. President Trump says only the U.S. can protect Greenland. He made the comment while addressing world leaders at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland today. Trump argued Denmark could not protect Greenland during World War Two. He said the U.S. was "stupid" to give Greenland back to Denmark after the war was over.        Lindsay Halligan is out as interim U.S. attorney. U.S. Attorney General Pam Bondi made the announcement on social media Tuesday night saying Democratic senators had made it impossible for Halligan's term to continue. Earlier in the day, a federal judge said Halligan was "masquerading" as the U.S. attorney for the Eastern District of Virginia.        A big stretch of the country from Texas into the Northeast will see a major winter storm bring ice and snow this week. In the meantime, frigid Arctic air will continue to freeze parts of the Midwest, Great Lakes and Northeast. Forecasters say that air comes ahead of a storm that will hit much of the Southeast and East Friday through Sunday.        Former NFL journalist Michele Tafoya is preparing a run for the Minnesota Senate as a Republican. Tafoya, who worked as a "Sunday Night Football" sideline reporter for NBC until 2022, has repeatedly attacked two Senate Democratic candidates in the state on social media. Republicans are looking to flip the seat held by Tina Smith, who is retiring.        International health officials may revoke the country's measles elimination status due to an outbreak. The Pan American Health Organization declared the disease eliminated in the U.S. in 2000, but a recent outbreak of more than 640 cases in South Carolina could lead the organization to reconsider its ruling. Officials with the U.S. Center for Disease Control said on Tuesday they aren't overly concerned.        Jannik Sinner is moving on to the second round of the Australian Open. His opponent, Hugo Gaston, retired with an undisclosed injury following the second set. In other second round action, top-seeded Carlos Alcaraz, 11th-seeded Daniil Medvedev and 19th-seeded American Tommy Paul each won and will be advancing to the third round.
