It's day 16 of the partial government shutdown. U.S. service members got paid during the shutdown this week, but air traffic controllers are clocking in without collecting a check. There will still be Social Security payments, and mail is still being delivered during the shutdown, but food aid programs like SNAP and WIC may run out of money by the end of the month.        President Trump says he has authorized the CIA to "take action" in Venezuela. Trump confirmed the news on Wednesday, and was asked by reporters if the CIA had been given the greenlight to "take out" Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro. He refused to answer.        Bank of America is being sued for allegedly knowingly providing financial services that enabled Jeffrey Epstein's sex-trafficking operation. The plaintiff is a woman who said she was abused by the late sex criminal and was told to open a Bank of America account in which money was regularly deposited.        Actor Michael Chernus says he was hesitant at first to play John Wayne Gacy on the new show, "Devil in Disguise." Gacy was a serial killer who murdered 30 young men and boys in the 1970s and dressed as a clown to entertain children. Chernus is known for his work on "Severance." "Devil in Disguise" premieres today on Peacock.        The J.M. Smucker Company is taking Trader Joe's to federal court for trademark infringement. Smucker claims Trader Joe's new frozen peanut butter and jelly sandwiches are too close in design and appearance to Smucker's Uncrustables. Smucker wants restitution and all of the Trader Joe's packaging to be destroyed.        Earthquake drills will be held around the world today for International ShakeOut Day. International ShakeOut Day started in California in 2008, and aims to teach people once a year on October 16th how to reduce injuries in the event of an earthquake. Many will hold the drills at 10:16 a.m. this morning.
