Update on Woonsocket Remains


The Office of the State Medical Examiners at the Rhode Island Department of Health (RIDOH) has identified the second of two decedents recovered at a home in Woonsocket on September 19th as Daniel Grabowski. Earlier this week, RIDOH identified the other decedent recovered in the home as Susan Menard. The cause of death for Susan Menard was determined to be chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. The cause of death for Daniel Grabowski was determined to be type 2 diabetes.

 

 

 

The government shutdown is in its 30th day with no vote set on a measure that would reopen it. Over 40-million Americans who depend on food benefits may see their aid come to an end on Saturday. Some Democrats are calling on the Trump administration to use contingency funds to continue the benefits, but the USDA says it doesn't have the legal authority to use the funds.        The Pentagon is preparing National Guard reaction forces. That's according to multiple reports. Thousands of specialized personnel have been ordered to complete civil unrest mission training over the next few months. The Department of War's "quick reaction force" of National Guard troops must be fully trained, equipped with riot control gear and be ready to deployed by the first of the year.        Virginia lawmakers are advancing a constitutional amendment centered on redrawing congressional lines. Democrats advanced the measure in a 51 to 42 vote, and the amendment would allow for the redrawing of its House map if another state redraws its lines for a reason that isn't part of the mandated redistricting process. If the amendment passes, it would offer lawmakers until October 31st, 2030, to do mid-cycle redistricting.        Hurricane Melissa is barreling towards Bermuda after the deadly storm caused devastation in the Caribbean earlier this week. At least 30 people were killed with majority of the deaths coming from floods in Haiti. The storm will approach Bermuda later today and is packing winds of 105 miles-per-hour, making it a category two storm.        Five more suspects are in custody in Paris in connection with the recent theft of the French crown jewels from the Louvre [[ LOOV-ruh ]] museum. They were reportedly caught in coordinated raids around the French capital Wednesday night. One of those arrested is allegedly one of the four-man team that actually carried out the theft.        Week nine of the NFL season kicks off with Thursday Night Football. The Miami Dolphins will host the Baltimore Ravens in an AFC matchup. Baltimore will get star quarterback Lamar Jackson back on the field after he missed the last three games due to injury. Kickoff is set for 8:15 p.m. eastern.
