REWARD: Mayor and Chief Offer Reward for Graffiti Information
Residents encouraged to provide information leading to the arrest and prosecution
of people causing graffiti vandalism
WOONSOCKET, RI: Mayor Lisa Baldelli-Hunt and Chief Thomas F. Oates III announced today the Woonsocket Police Department is offering a $200.00 reward for material information leading to the arrest and successful prosecution of the individual(s) responsible for “tagging” both public and private property.
Graffiti vandalism, also called “tagging”, defaces buildings, public places, vehicles and highways. Graffiti destroys property and costs the city and our residents valuable resources and clean-up costs each year. Graffiti also has a negative impact on neighborhoods and invites further vandalism and criminal activity. The City of Woonsocket and Woonsocket Police Department take a bold stance against graffiti; we encourage our citizens and those visiting Woonsocket to join in the fight against “tagging”.
According to Mayor Lisa Baldelli-Hunt, “Law enforcement alone cannot solve all crimes. We need a partnership with the residents of our community to help keep our City safe. I urge all residents to be vigilant and report any suspicious activity to law enforcement.”
Chief Thomas F. Oates III states, “In particular, we are seeking material information and the identity of the individual(s) tagging the word “Naked” on public and private property throughout the City. As a community, we can work together to address this quality of life issue.”
City residents and visitors with graffiti information should call the Woonsocket Police Department Detective Division at 401-766-1212 options #4. Please leave a detailed message and contact information. For crimes in progress, including graffiti, call 911 or 401-766-1212 option #8. Callers should provide location information and suspect(s) description. Callers should stay on the line with the police dispatcher to provide real-time information until police arrive on the scene. Online reporting is possible at the City of Woonsocket’s website www.woonsocketri.org.
“Partnering with the community is one of the best ways to solve crime, improve quality of life issues, and make the City of Woonsocket as safe as it can be,” replied Chief Oates.

The Supreme Court will hear arguments Thursday on Donald Trump's claim he has absolute immunity on charges of attempting to overturn the 2020 election. The outcome could determine whether Trump faces a federal trial this year on four felony counts brought by special counsel Jack Smith, which include conspiracy to defraud the U.S. and obstruction of an official proceeding. Trump's legal team argues the former president should have absolute immunity from criminal prosecution for any official acts taken while in office.
