Luis Roman (age 31)

Providence, R.I.

On January 21, 2022, the Providence County Grand Jury returned an indictment charging Luis Roman with one count of assault with intent to commit murder, one count of assault with a dangerous weapon, one count of discharging a firearm while in commission of a crime of violence, two counts of possessing a firearm while in conviction of a crime, one count of possession of a stolen firearm, one count of possession of a ghost gun, one count of domestic strangulation, one count of domestic assault with a dangerous weapon, and one count of using a firearm while in commission of a crime of violence. The alleged acts occurred in the city of Providence sometime on or about August 11, 2021. The Providence Police Department conducted the investigation. The defendant is scheduled to be arraigned on January 28, 2022 in Providence Superior Court.

 

 

Marcus Jones (age 32)

Providence, R.I.

On January 21, 2022, the Providence County Grand Jury returned an indictment charging Marcus Jones with one count of murder and one count of conspiracy. The alleged acts occurred in the city of Providence sometime on or about August 16, 2021. The Providence Police Department conducted the investigation. The defendant is scheduled to be arraigned on February 9, 2022 in Providence Superior Court.

 

 

Ken Appia (age 66)

On January 21, 2022, the Providence County Grand Jury returned an indictment charging Ken Appia with three counts of first-degree child molestation. The alleged acts occurred in the town of Scituate on various days and dates between September 1, 2019 and March 1, 2021. The Rhode Island State Police conducted the investigation. The defendant is scheduled to be arraigned on February 9, 2022 in Providence Superior Court.

 

 

Ted Lambert (age 50)

On January 21, 2022, the Providence County Grand Jury returned an indictment charging Ted Lambert with one count of first-degree child molestation, and six counts of second-degree child molestation. The alleged acts occurred in the town of Cumberland on various days and dates between October 14, 2008 and December 31, 2012. The Cumberland Police Department conducted the investigation. The defendant is scheduled to be arraigned on February 9, 2022 in Providence Superior Court.

 

A measure to end the federal government shutdown has been rejected by the Senate once again. The Republican-backed bill failed to be passed for a ninth time on Wednesday. It came after President Trump said he will cut programs favored by Democrats, with a full list of targeted programs expected Friday.        President Trump is spotlighting his crackdown on crime in U.S. cities. Alongside FBI Director Kash Patel at the White House, Trump said crushing violent crime is the top priority of the FBI. He said the FBI has arrested thousands of violent criminals so far.        Stocks are mixed to end the day on Wall Street. It comes after financial companies like Bank of America and Morgan Stanley posted positive earnings results. However, uncertainty remains around trade tensions with China and the federal government shutdown entering its third week.        Millions in the Plains and Mississippi Valley could be hit by potentially dangerous severe weather due to a cross-country storm that's brewing. According to forecasts, as the system continues to advance across the central U.S. this weekend, the threat of scattered showers, thunderstorms, damaging wind gusts, hail and tornadoes will increase. The extreme weather threat is then expected to shift eastward into the lower and mid-Mississippi Valley by Saturday night.        Zohran Mamdani isn't ready yet to give President Trump credit for the Israeli-Hamas peace deal. In an interview with Fox News, the Democratic Socialist candidate for New York City mayor said he wants to see lasting peace before any credit is given. Mamdani again said if elected, he would arrest Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu if he came to New York, based on a war crimes warrant from the International Criminal Court.        Tonight's college football schedule features two games. Delaware will head to Alabama to take on Jacksonville State. Meanwhile, UTEP will take on Sam Houston.
