Rep. Alzate and RI Legislative Black and Latino Caucus thank Dr. Alexander-Scott for her service to RI

 

STATE HOUSE – The Rhode Island Legislative Black and Latino Caucus, chaired by Rep. Karen Alzate (D-Dist. 60, Pawtucket), is releasing the following statement thanking Dr. Nicole Alexander-Scott for her service to the residents of Rhode Island.

 

“The Black and Latino Caucus extends to Dr. Alexander-Scott our deepest thanks and gratitude for her commitment to the public health and well-being of all Rhode Islanders.  In particular, we thank her for her leadership during the COVID-19 pandemic and how she strived to ensure that Rhode Island’s most marginalized and affected communities received the care and attention that they deserved,” said Chairwoman Alzate and the Caucus.

 

The Rhode Island Legislative Black and Latino Caucus (RILBLC) represents and advocates for the interests of disadvantaged people throughout the State of Rhode Island. It seeks to increase a diverse participation and representation in all levels of government. The goal is to close, and ultimately to eliminate, disparities that still exist between white and non-white Americans in every aspect of life.

U.S. Attorney for D.C. Jeanine Pirro announced the upgraded charge this morning following the death of Sarah Beckstrom. The other guardsman shot in the incident, Andrew Wolfe, remains hospitalized in critical condition.        A close aide of Ukranian President Zelensky has stepped down after anti-corruption agencies conducted raids at his home. Now former Chief of Staff to the President Andriy Yermak had been leading Ukraine's delegation during peace talks recently to end the war with Russia. Zelensky made the announcement in his daily TV address on Friday.        The season of gift buying and giving has arrived. The National Retail Federation estimates a record number of shoppers - nearly 190 million - will do at least some shopping between now and Cyber Monday this year. Fifty-percent of consumers say they'll be gifting clothing and accessories.        President Trump says South Africa will not attend next year's G20 summit in the U.S. The global forum of the world's largest economies held its annual summit in Johannesburg this year, and no high-ranking U.S. officials were in attendance due to Trump's claims that the white ethnic minority in South Africa are the victims of genocide. On Wednesday, Trump posted on social media that South Africa will not be receiving an invitation to the 2026 G20, which will be hosted in Miami.        There's a loaded slate of college football on this Black Friday. Number six Ole Miss is taking on rival Mississippi State in the Egg Bowl, while rivals Iowa and Nebraska are playing currently in Lincoln. Meanwhile, number 14 Utah is facing off against Kansas.
