City of Woonsocket to Participate at Job Fair in Collaboration

with the Rhode Island Department of Labor and Training

 

WOONSOCKET: Mayor Lisa Baldelli-Hunt announced that the City of Woonsocket will be participating in the Rhode Island Department of Labor and Training’s upcoming Woonsocket job fair.

The job fair will be held at DLT’s Woonsocket Career Center, 219 Pond Street on Friday, November 19, 2021 from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.

Jobs available with the City of Woonsocket are: Public Safety Telecommunications Clerk, Animal Control Officer, Senior Equipment Mechanic/Department of Public Works, Utility Person/Department of Public Works and City Tax Assessor.

Other Participating Employers are Landmark Medical Center, the Brickle Group, General Dynamics Electric Boat and Toray Plastics.

Registration is not required in advance; walk-ins are welcome. Participants should bring a resume to the event and be prepared to interview with employers.

Linda Plays, Director of Human Services said, "We are very fortunate to the State of Rhode Island Department of Labor and Training Career Center in Woonsocket for its accessibility to our residents. We are also planning more job fairs in partnership with the Rhode Island Department of Labor and Training in the future."

 

 

The government shutdown is on track to become the longest in history tomorrow. The Senate is not scheduled to vote today on a funding measure that would end the ongoing shutdown. It comes as the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, or SNAP, ran out of money on Saturday. Two federal judges have ruled that the Trump administration needs to make partial payments and can use some discretionary funds.        Two suspects are facing federal charges in connection with an alleged terror plot in Michigan. Last week, FBI Director Kash Patel announced five people had been arrested for "allegedly plotting a violent attack over Halloween weekend." Mohmed Ali and Majed Mahmoud are scheduled to appear in court this afternoon. Ali allegedly bought a shotgun, AR-15 style rifle as well as other accessories in August and September.        Voters across the country are set to head to the polls tomorrow. In New York City, Democrat frontrunner Zohran Mamdani looks to win the mayor's office over former Governor Andrew Cuomo, running as an independent and Republican Curtis Sliwa. In Virginia and New Jersey, voters will choose new governors.        National Guard troops are being kept out of Portland, Oregon until Friday. A federal judge extended her order blocking President Trump's troop deployment, concluding that the attempt to send troops in was based on exaggerated claims that violence in the city had grown out of control. National Guard troops have been staged at Portland training bases for weeks as the legal battles continue.        Tylenol maker Kenvue is being sold in a multi billion dollar deal. Kimberly-Clark announced a cash-and-stock deal valued at 48-point-seven-billion dollars to buy Kenvue. The deal would bring brands like Huggies and Kleenex under the same roof as Tylenol and Band-Aid.        Week nine of the NFL season wraps up with Monday Night Football in the Lone Star State. The Dallas Cowboys will host the Arizona Cardinals at AT&T Stadium. The Cardinals are two-and-five on the season, while the Cowboys are three-four-and-one. Kickoff is set for 8:15 p.m.
