The Senate has voted against a measure that would pay some federal workers still on the job during the government shutdown. The bill that would pay air traffic controllers, military members, border patrol agents and other "essential workers" failed yesterday by a vote of 54 to 45.     Current and former NBA players and coaches are facing fedrral charges in connection with gambling. FBI Director Kash Patel announced investigators uncovered a illegal gambling operation as well as a sports betting rigging scheme. Miami Heat player Terry Rozier and former coach and player Damon Jones are accused of using inside information to make wagers on games, while Portland Trailblazers coach Chauncey Billups was arrested in connection with a poker scheme involving the Italian-American mafia. More than 30 people are facing charges in connection with the cases.     A key inflation report will be out this morning. Investors will eagerly digest the new report, because it's the only hard data coming out with the current blackout of government reports.     FEMA is rejecting Maryland's request for disaster relief following devastating floods last May. Governor Wes Moore announced Thursday the agency is opting not to issue a Major Disaster Declaration over the severe flooding in Allegany and Garrett Counties. Moore slammed the decision, saying it ignores more than 33-million dollars in verified damage and leaves Western Maryland communities without critical recovery funds.     Kim Kardashian has a brain aneurysm. The 45-year-old reality TV star made the disclosure Thursday in a teaser for the seventh season of her show, "The Kardashians." The teaser shows her sliding into an MRI scanner and saying that during a recent diagnosis, doctors discovered "a little aneurysm" in her brain.     Pharrell Williams will perform before Game One of the World Series between the Los Angeles Dodgers and Toronto Blue Jays.
