Rubbish and Recycling Holiday Pickup Schedule

 

On Monday September 6th, in the observance of Labor Day the Woonsocket Recycle Facility, located at 943 River Street will be closed.

 

Curbside pick-up of rubbish and recycling for the week of September 6th to September 10th will be delayed by one day.

 

Residents are reminded that plastic bags of any kind are not allowed in the GREEN recycle carts.  All recyclables must be bag free.

 

Curbside collection of yard waste resumes the week of September 27th.  Until then please do not place any yard waste bags in the sidewalk areas.

The father of a missing 22-year-old woman is expressing his family's anger that her fiance won't come forward with what he knows about her whereabouts. Speaking on Fox News, Joe Petito says it's a "frustrating situation" that the "only person who knows" where his daughter, Gabby Petito [[ puh-TEE-to ]] might be is just "sitting in his house." Petito emphasized he and other family members have contacted Brian Laundrie's family and haven't gotten any response.       One of the ten House Republicans to vote to impeach former President Trump won't seek re-election. Ohio's Anthony Gonzalez made the announcement on Twitter. In his statement, he says the decision is being made to have more time for his family. He said it has been the "honor of a lifetime" to serve in Congress.        A new report shows the number of Latinos that own homes across the U.S. is at its highest level in 20 years. The 2020 State of Hispanic Homeownership Report shows it is at its highest level since 2000. The report says Latinos accounted for over 50 percent of homeownership growth. It added they will likely make up the majority of new homeowners for the next two decades.        Scientists say there's a number of steps you should try and hit to reduce your risk of early death. The study published in the Jama Network Open says that number is seven-thousand. It found people who walked at least seven-thousand steps a day had a 50 to 70 percent lower risk of premature mortality from any cause.       Two men who served in World War Two are getting to live out a dream, taking a flight in a restored Boeing Stearman Biplane. KNXV-TV reports the pair, 97-year-old Salvador Leon and 99-year-old Ellsworth Gray, recently got to fly the iconic aircraft at an airport near Phoenix. It was made possible by the nonprofit Dream Flights as a part of Operation September Freedom.
