President Trump says the U.S. will get involved if peaceful protesters are killed in Iran during the current economic unrest. Trump posted on Truth Social early this morning, saying the U.S. is "locked and loaded and ready to go" if peaceful protesters die, and "will come to their rescue." Senior Iranian officials quickly responded, and warned that U.S. intervention would spark chaos in the region.        Hearings on fraud concerns involving Minnesota daycares will be held by the House Oversight Committee starting next week. Committee Chairman James Comer set the first hearing for Wednesday with testimony expected from Republican lawmakers Kristin Robbins, Walter Hudson and Marion Rarick. Comer has also invited Minnesota's Governor Tim Walz and its Attorney General Keith Ellison to testify on February 10th.        Wall Street is closing mixed on the first trading day of 2026. Stocks wavered early in the session then climbed with A-I related shares including Nvidia and Micron Technology providing some lift to start the new year. Tesla slid two percent after its annual sales fell for a second straight year. At the closing bell, the Dow Jones Industrial Average gained 319 points to 48-382. The S&P 500 rose 12 points to 68-58. The Nasdaq lost six points to 23-235.        Parts of the Northeast are getting hit by a lake-effect snowstorm to kick off the new year. According to The FOX Forecast Center, snow totals downwind of Lake Ontario could approach three feet near the Tug Hill Plateau in upstate New York by Saturday morning. Meanwhile, totals could range from eight to 12 inches south of Buffalo, and parts of Pennsylvania could see up to a foot of new snow by Saturday morning.        Elon Musk's AI chatbot, Grok, says it created explicit images of children. Grok replied to a user's posts Thursday saying there had been "isolated cases where users prompted for and received AI images depicting minors in minimal clothing." On Friday, Grok said, "We've identified lapses in safeguards and are urgently fixing them."        People are making less trips to the movies. An annual report from entertainment stat tracker EntTelligence showed 780 million people went to the movies last year. That's a drop of just under five-percent from 2024.
