Juhmel Dwyer (age 25)

On November 6, 2020, the Providence County Grand Jury returned an indictment charging Juhmel Dwyer with four counts of assault with a dangerous weapon in a dwelling, one count of assault with intent to murder, one count of use of a firearm while committing a crime of violence, one count of possession of a stolen firearm, one count of possession of a stolen firearm while committing a crime of violence, one count of domestic simple assault, one count of simple assault, one count of resisting arrest, one count of possession of a firearm without a license, and one count of possession of a firearm after being convicted of a crime of violence.

 

The alleged acts occurred in the town of Cumberland sometime on July 26, 2020. The Cumberland Police Department conducted the investigation.

 

The defendant is scheduled to be arraigned on November 13, 2020 in Providence County Superior Court.

 

 

Richard Stephens (age 52)

On November 6, 2020, the Providence County Grand Jury returned an indictment charging Richard Stephens with six counts of first-degree sexual assault, two counts of first-degree child molestation, six counts of second-degree child molestation, and one count of domestic simple assault.

 

The alleged acts occurred in the city of Central Falls on diverse dates between August 2005 and September 2020. The Central Falls Police Department conducted the investigation.

 

The defendant is scheduled to be arraigned on November 25, 2020 in Providence County Superior Court.

There's no end in sight to the government shutdown after the Senate voted down the House GOP's spending bill for the tenth time today. Meanwhile, the Senate held a procedural vote on a measure that's meant to fund the Department of War. Democrats blocked the legislation as they want discussions to begin on an extension of subsidies related to Obamacare.        President Trump wants to make in vitro fertilization more accessible. Reports say Trump will announce a plan that will allow Americans access to fertility drugs at reduced prices, and make IVF treatment less expensive. He's set to make the announcement in the Oval Office soon alongside Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. Making IVF more accessible was one of Trump's campaign promises.        Democrats could take a hit depending on the Supreme Court's upcoming ruling over Congressional maps. Yesterday, Justices heard arguments over whether Louisiana's House map violates the Constitution. The 2024 map created a second majority-Black congressional district after Black voters sued, arguing the old map violated the Voting Rights Act. If the part of the act that involves maps based on race is struck down, it will have a negative impact on the number of Democrats in the House.        New York City mayor's debate takes center-stage tonight. Democratic Socialist Zohran Mamdani, Independent Andrew Cuomo, and Republican Curtis Sliwa will be facing off. Also tonight, incumbent Republican Jason Miyares will go against Democrat challenger Jay Jones in Virginia's attorney general debate. Jones is under fire after his old texts surfaced where he discussed hypothetical acts of violence against former political foe.        The National Weather Service's winter outlook is a mixed-bag. The Ohio Valley and southern Great Lakes regions are expected to see wetter-than-average conditions. Meanwhile, drier-than-average conditions are anticipated in the desert Southwest as well as along the Gulf Coast and from Florida to the Carolinas. The southern half of the U.S. is expected to see warmer than average temperatures while the Pacific Northwest and parts of the Midwest are expected to see cooler than average temperatures.        Week Seven of the NFL kicks-off tonight on Thursday Night Football. The Cincinnati Bengals host the Pittsburgh Steelers at 8:15 pm Eastern. Cincinnati is currently second in the AFC North at 2-and-4 while Pittsburgh leads the AFC North at 4-and-1.
