On September 21, 2020, the Statewide Grand Jury returned an indictment charging Charles Okafor with one count of first-degree sexual assault. 

 

The alleged act occurred in the state of Rhode Island sometime between December 13, 2019 and December 14, 2019. The Rhode Island State Police conducted the investigation.

 

The defendant was arraigned on September 22, 2020 in Providence County Superior Court. He is currently being held without bail while he awaits his next court appearance.

 

 

Amy Coney Barrett is officially an Associate Justice on the U.S. Supreme Court. In a private ceremony attended by the Justices and Barrett's husband, Chief Justice John Roberts administered the Judicial Oath to President Trump's third nominee to the high court. An official photo released by the court depicts Barrett with her hand on the Bible as she recites the oath with her husband and Roberts also in the picture.       A federal judge is rejecting an attempt by the Justice Department to intervene in a defamation case against President Trump. New York writer E. Jean Carroll accused Trump of raping her more than two decades ago. U.S. District Court Judge Lewis Kaplan rejected Justice Department efforts to essentially take over Trump's defense.       The Eli Lilly study on its antibody drug for COVID-19 is over. The study was stopped by government officials. The stoppage was due to the drug seemingly not helping people hospitalized with the virus.       Zeta is now a tropical storm. It has winds of 65 mile-per-hour and it's now eyeing the Gulf Coast. Zeta is expected to bring hurricane conditions to portions of that area as early as tomorrow.        Philadelphia is the latest city to be rocked with violence following the police killing of a Black man. Walter Wallace was shot and killed yesterday and officials say Wallace was armed with a knife and confronted officers when he was shot. Mayor Jim Kenney released a statement saying "difficult questions" have to be answered after he watched the video that showed what happened.        We're just a little more than two weeks away from a historic space mission. NASA announced yesterday its first Commercial Crew mission to the International Space Station will take place November 14th at 7:49 p.m. The Resilience will take off from Cape Canaveral and carry four astronauts to the ISS for a 210-day mission.
