FLUSHING NOTICE

To our customers,

 

As part of the annual hydrant flushing program, the Woonsocket Water Division will be flushing the hydrants in the following area tonight: Constitution Hill and Fairmount, East, West, Center, South, Sayles St, Olo St, Mason St, Bourdon Blvd, and 1st through 10th Avenue. Side streets in these areas will be flushed as well.

The flushing will start at 9pm Tuesday, October 22nd and will continue until 5:00am Wednesday, October 23rd.  

 

Customers may experience discolored water, as well as lower than normal pressure. If you experience rusty water, run your COLD water for a short time to clear the lines.  Store clean water in containers for use until water runs clear.  If possible, please limit water usage during these hours, especially if you notice work crews in your area.

Federal officials are slashing the number of flights in U.S. airspace starting Friday. It's a result of staffing shortages during the federal government shutdown. FAA administrator Bryan Bedford announced Wednesday the agency will reduce air traffic by ten percent at 40 high-volume airports if there's no deal to end the shutdown. Bedford said the reduction would help take the pressure off air traffic controllers, who are working without pay.        The Supreme Court will decide if President Trump's tariffs are legal. The justices heard arguments Wednesday after the high court agreed to fast track the case. The tariffs will stay in place until the court makes a decision.        Tesla's annual shareholder meeting is today and there's a major vote coming that could either make Elon Musk the world's first trillionaire or see him part ways with the electric vehicle maker. Musk's one-trillion-dollar, performance-based compensation package is at stake as well as his continuing control of the company. The tech billionaire has hinted that he might leave Tesla if his pay deal is blocked. Ahead of today's critical vote, Norway's sovereign wealth fund - a major Tesla investor - announced it would vote no.        Jimmy Kimmel is opening up a food bank to help those in need after the government shutdown-related loss of food assistance. Calling it the "Jimmy Kimmel Live Big, Beautiful Food Bank," the late night host said the show is starting a donation center in their Hollywood backlot. Kimmel's announcement Tuesday came after President Trump threatened to withhold food assistance until Democrats reopen the government, a move that would be in violation of court orders. The White House has sought to downplay Trump's comments, saying that partial payments will be made.        Instagram is being ordered to stop using PG-13 to describe its new teen accounts. The Motion Picture Association reportedly sent a cease and desist letter to Instagram's parent company Meta over the use of the rating. It said the claims the new setting is "guided by" the PG-13 rating are "literally false and highly misleading."        A blast of Arctic air will be coming to the Eastern U.S. this weekend, brining a deep-freeze to millions. Temperatures are expected to fall from the Dakotas all the way down to Florida, with forecasters saying it will feel more like January than November.
