As part of the annual hydrant flushing program, the Woonsocket Water Division will be flushing the hydrants in the following area tonight: Constitution Hill and Fairmount, East, West, Center, South, Sayles St, Olo St, Mason St, Bourdon Blvd, and 1st through 10th Avenue. Side streets in these areas will be flushed as well.

The flushing will start at 9pm Tuesday, October 22nd and will continue until 5:00am Wednesday, October 23rd.  


Customers may experience discolored water, as well as lower than normal pressure. If you experience rusty water, run your COLD water for a short time to clear the lines.  Store clean water in containers for use until water runs clear.  If possible, please limit water usage during these hours, especially if you notice work crews in your area.

Former President Jimmy Carter is recovering from a procedure that relieved pressure in his brain caused by bleeding. The Carter Center said there were no complications from the surgery. The bleeding was caused by a number of recent falls.        [[ Note: Watch for updates ]]       The Supreme Court is hearing oral arguments today on the DACA [[ DAH-kuh ]] program. DACA is the Obama-era policy designed to protect immigrants who were brought to the U.S. illegally as children. A federal court blocked President Trump's 2017 attempt to end the program.        The widow of the late Maryland Representative Elijah Cummings is jumping into the race for his vacant seat. Maya Rockeymoore Cummings formally announced her candidacy this morning in Baltimore. Elijah Cummings died last month after serving for more than two decades on Capitol Hill.       The first public hearings in the impeachment inquiry against President Trump begin tomorrow. State Department officials William Taylor and George Kent will be the first witnesses in Wednesday's public hearings. Behind closed doors, both told lawmakers about their concerns with the Trump administration pressuring Ukrainian officials to investigate Joe Biden.        Mexican authorities say they've made arrests in the massacre of nine people earlier this month. Three women and six children with dual U.S.-Mexican citizenship were killed while driving in northern Mexico on November 4th. Investigators believe they were caught in the midst of a fight for territory between two drug cartels.        A new survey shows most Americans work when they're sick. National staffing agency Accountemps polled 28-hundred employees in more than two dozen major cities. They found that more than 90-percent come to work when they're sick with a cold or flu.
